Leadership

We believed that we could solve this problem. That's how we did it.

When two of the world’s most renowned experts in the fields of electronic circuit cleaning and reliability testing first came together, there was a lot of discussions. Gradually, those discussions evolved into questions – difficult questions which had no present-day answers. It wasn’t long before Dr. Mike Bixenman and Mark McMeen understood that they would need to work together to create the answer.

That answer is Magnalytix.

Of course, neither Dr. Mike nor Mark are idle people.  Each holds a leadership position at their firms, Mike with KYZEN Corporation, where he is a founder and CTO, and Mark at STI Electronics, Inc., where he is the Vice President of Engineering Services.  Both KYZEN & STI Electronics are well known for their commitment to quality and reliability as well as their extensive expertise in the electronics industry. It wasn’t long before the Boards of both firms agreed to form a joint venture to pursue the industry need and business opportunity.  Magnalytix was born.

Dr. Michael Bixenman, Co-Inventor:

Industry leader and widely sought-out expert in the field of cleaning electronic circuit assemblies and advanced packages, co-inventor Mike Bixenman (Dr. Mike), has authored hundreds of industry-wide papers and journals, and wrote The Cleaning & Contamination Process Guide, which is widely accepted around the world as the standard for electronics manufacturing process cleaning.

Dr. Mike has received multiple professional honors and awards in his field, including the IPC President’s Award and having the honor to chair the IPC/SMTA Cleaning Symposium. He is currently chair of the IPC Cleaning Handbook Task Group.

Passionate about improving electronics reliability processes, Dr. Mike saw the increasing gap between advancements in electronics manufacturing and stagnation of reliability testing processes and knew something needed to be done in order to make Our Electronics more reliable for end users.

Serving as Chief Technology Officer at KYZEN, his thoughts and passion for improvement in electronic circuit assembly cleaning were shared with long-time collaborator and industry expert Mark McMeen, from STI Electronics. Together, after years of working in cooperation to solve life and death reliability questions, they discovered how to offer reliable Objective Evidence in real-time – and Magnalytix was born.

Mark McMeen, Co-Inventor:

With over 20 years’ experience in the manufacturing and engineering of electronic assemblies, it was Mark’s work developing test methods for military cleaning materials early in his career that helped fuel his passion for reliability in electronics manufacturing.

In the military, where electronics reliability is a matter of life and death, Mark continued to push the question, “How clean is clean?” which began his correspondence and eventual collaboration with Dr. Mike Bixenman.

Mark’s ability to ask the question, take a concept and come up with an innovative way to approach it, was one of the key drivers during his early accomplishments in military testing, and he continues to be a major contributor to the success of STI Electronics, where he serves as Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering Services.

“Our Electronic devices need to work every day – and even more so when someone’s life or safety depends on it,” says Mark. “And it’s time we apply Objective Evidence to our cleaning reliability processes.” It is this guiding principle that brought Mark and Dr. Mike together to create Magnalytix and advance engineering design for the world’s electronic assembly reliability processes.
